10 Shades of Purple

Purple is the range of hues occurring between red and blue. It is a color associated with royalty and nobility. As such it is associated with wealth, prosperity, and rich sophistication. When overused it can be associated with putting on airs and being artificial. Purple also represents wisdom and spirituality and is a favorite color of adolescent girls. It also has no true word that rhymes with it.
The color can affect us mentally in various ways. We can find it:

  • Uplifting
  • Calming to the mind and nerves
  • Encouraging Creativity
  • Offering a sense of spiritualty

Below I have put together a collection of photographs that include the color purple as their main theme.

The Magic of Forests or… “That Subtle Something…”

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.- Robert Louis Stevenson

What follows is a collection of photographs from a variety of artists on Flickr. What they have captured in their photographs is pure life and inspiration mixed in with a sensation of age and great tranquility. I hope you enjoy the following photographs as much as I do.

Holi – Festival of Colors

Holi is a religious festival in India. It is a reason for Indians to shed inhibitions and differences for a day and indulge in fun. Teenagers spend the day flirting and misbehaving in the streets; adults extend the hand of peace, and everyone chases everyone else around, throwing brightly colored powder (gulal) and water over each other. It marks the end of the winter season.

Super Moon Photos

The moon made its closest approach to Earth on Saturday, March 19, 2011. It appeared much closer and larger to the naked eye than what we normally see. The last supermoon was eighteen years ago.

What follows are a few photographs of the event that I collected from Flickr. Click on the photograph to see other work by the photographer.

Strange Levitation Event in Vermont with Photographs

A strange event occurred this weekend in Vermont. It was an incidence of levitation. We have heard rumors of others taking place but this was the first one to be documented with any photographic evidence. The following is a synopsis of the event as it happened.

Mario woke up that morning feeling as if this was his special day. Each of his steps seemed lighter than normal…. there was what he described something like a vibrational energy in the air. As he was coming down the stairs from his bedroom, every step he took seemed to be charged. More than charged it was as if he were a magnet and the earth was pushing him away. He soon realized that his feet were gradually leaving the earth repulsed by its magnetic energy. By the time he reached the bottom of the stairs he was floating.

Mario Levitating into the Living Room

It was a thrilling sensation to have this energy coursing through his body. Just as he was about to enter the living room, he turned. He noted that there was no trouble with him staying upright and balanced. The magnetic energy was focused through his feet and by holding them in just the right direction he could propel himself forward or stand still.

Levitation Event

When he reached the sliding doors that lead outside there was a brilliant light. The earth was glowing outside. Perhaps it was bravado or perhaps not but he felt confident as if he was in control of the event.

Mario Levitating while looking Outside at Snow

He was wondering if he could maintain his levitation if he headed outside into the brilliant energy. He floated over to the door and opened it. The earth was all white filled with the energy that was propelling him along. He felt the shock of the cold air hitting him.

Mario Levitating into the House

But even after the initial shock of the cold air, he felt buoyed up by energy and unafraid. He floated through the neighborhood and not a neighbor noticed the event.

Mario Levitating

Soon the wave of magnetic energy faded and he gradually floated back down to earth with no harm to himself or others.

There are many unanswered questions in this event. Why was the energy concentrated in his feet? Why would the earth push someone away? Will it ever occur again and why did it happen in the first place? Only time and study will eventually reveal these secrets but I promise to report any further events should they return. If you have experienced similar events, please let us know.

The Aurora – 23 Photographs

The Aurora or Northern Lights are a natural light show in the sky commonly observed in the polar regions. They can be observed in both the northern and southern hemisphere. Called Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights in the northern hemisphere and Aurora Australis or Southern Lights in the south. They are caused by an interaction of charged particles and the earth’s magnetosphere. They are associated with the solar wind and occur most commonly after a solar flare.

Green is the most common color for all auroras. Behind it is pink, a mixture of light green and red, followed by pure red, yellow (a mixture of red and green), and lastly pure blue. These colors result from light being emitted by oxygen and nitrogen as their particles return from an excited to a ground state.

Auroras have been reported many times to have sound and acoustical effects associated with them. There is no known scientific evidence or explanation for the sound created by them.

They are very magical to see. Below is a collection of photographs of these marvelous effects.

22 Winter Scenes

Of all the seasons, I believe winter to be my most favorite with the exception of fall. There’s something about the clear, clean feeling to the air and the tranquility that envelopes the earth that I find beautiful. This season also leads to a creative time when we are camped in our homes trying to keep warm by huddling around our stoves and developing our crafts. Once in a while, a few brave souls creep out into the cold to capture its beauty.

Below is the result of a few of those souls who take the time to leave the comfort of their homes to enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds them. I hope you enjoy this collection that I’ve made.
